About WSST
The Watercolor Society of South Texas meets September through May of each year on the third Sunday of the month. The meetings are held at the Art Center of Corpus Christi, 100 North Shoreline Blvd, Corpus Christi, Texas from 1:30-4:00pm.
Refreshments are served at the regular monthly meeting, and following a busines session a watercolor artist provides a demonstration. Prominent local watercolorists are frequently invited. On special occasions, for instance a period when a workshop is scheduled, WSST is fortunate to have a noted artist give a demonstration. Occasionally, a demonstration may feature topics or procedures of interest to those who paint watercolor, such as framing or reproduction techniques.
The annual WSST exhibit is held at the Art Center of Corpus Christi during the month of March. The show is open to all current members of the Art Center. All entries, which meet the criteria for community acceptance as set by the Art Center guidelines will be hung. The show is judged and a reception is held at which time prizes are awarded.
The WSST joins with the South Texas Art League and the Southwest Sculpture Society for the exhibit held in February at Del Mar College's Joseph A. Cain Memorial Gallery for the Tri-Group Show. This is a juried show in which the judge decides which works will be shown. Prizes are awarded during the reception.
A noted artist and teacher are customarily engaged to present a three to five-day workshop, usually in February. The schedule is subject to the artist's availability. Individuals who sign up for the workshop pay the fee determined. The artist who conducts this workshop is also the judge for the annual Watercolor Society of South Texas Exhibit.
